PEDs: Walking Buddies

While we don't have assigned spots for our weekly pack walks, we have found that our members tend to gravitate to the same spot each week.

We have our front dogs that lead our pack.  We have dogs at the tail that bring up the rear.

While our middle dogs don't typically have an order, we find that certain dogs walk best together.  They organically create a buddy system.  The dogs and humans look forward to walking with these buddies week to week.

Does your dog have a walking buddy?

  1. Slowly but surely our LoCo Dogs group is growing and I'm finding certain dogs do better in the front or back but the middle is a good place for the dogs who like to walk with a buddy.

    1. There is definitely a bit of an art to creating the lineup!

  2. When PEDs started, I was always wary of the other dogs and trying to find the best position for Madigan to walk in. To her, some of the dogs were "too small", "too fluffy", "too high energy". She would only do well near a few dogs. Now, even as our group grows, she seems to do well near almost any dog, even new pack members! I have been trying to switch things up and put her near different dogs each week to challenge her a little, but nothing seems to phase her anymore. She does like to bark at some of the "yellow" dogs because she is an instigator. I try to keep her away from them so they have a successful walk. After all, I remember when we needed a ton of space!

    1. Madigan is quickly becoming a "rockstar" dog that can go next to any dog on the walk! She has come such a long way. Kudos to you for getting out there and socializing her -- even when it's hard.
